At Friends we believe that a happy and caring atmosphere is essential. To promote this we take great care in choosing mature, conscientious and professional staffs that are particularly able to gain the confidence of young children. Our high standards are maintained with regular training which is evident in our low turnover of staff.
As we are off site regularly our child to staff ratios exceed those laid down by the children’s act.
We operate a key person system that enables us to meet your child’s individual needs. This bond develops an understanding and familiarity ensuring responsive care and greater emotional stability. Our staffs support your child’s first few days in the nursery with great sensitivity and work in partnership with parents to ensure that each developmental stage is supported and challenged appropriately.
The core team is qualified from Level 3 to Level 7. We mentor staffs who train for their NVQ’s in-house. Training for all staffs is updated regularly using Surrey County Council training resources, external experts an in-house experience. As the first and leading Forest School in Surrey, we also boast more trained Forest Leaders than any other setting in the county.
Many staffs have or are completing their Foundation Degree in Early Years and Childhood Development. We mentor degrees in house and support local colleges who place students with us under strict supervision.
Staffs are fully qualified in paediatric first aid, safeguarding children and fire safety.
Secure & Safe
We know that you will want to be sure that your child is safe and secure in our care and their protection is our top priority too.
We have staff policies to cover all aspects of health & safety and we train our team to make sure that they follow safety procedures at all times.
Adults working in the nursery are thoroughly vetted and we carry out risk assessments every day. The thing about our staff is they really love working with children and they put the children’s interests first.
